Whole School Cross Country
The Talara Primary College Cross Country Competition has been rescheduled to Thursday 22 April, from 9am - 11am on the college oval and its surrounds.
The schedule of events allows for two races to run simultaneously, maximising the enjoyment for all spectators. The Prep and Year 1 students will run approximately 400m, Years 2 and 3 will compete over a 700m course, Year 4 and 2011 born students run a 1.1km course whilst our 2010 and 2009 born students run our 2km 'marathon' course.
Please find a link to the Schedule of Events below. Please note, these are approximate starting times. Although we will endeavour to keep to scheduled times, please ensure, that if you are intending to attend, give yourself at least 15 minutes either side of a selected race.
This cross country competition is used for student selection into the Talara Cross Country Team to compete at the Coastal District Cross Country Competition in Term 2.
Students are required to wear their house coloured shirt, school shorts/skorts or black/navy bike pants and appropriate footwear for running. Sporting House polo shirts are available at the uniform shop for $20. Please ensure that sunscreen is applied prior to the commencement of the school day and your child has a water bottle on hand for the day. Your assistance in their preparation would be greatly appreciated.
Please find links to maps for each division below. In the days prior to competition, teachers will walk the course with their class.
Please note that due to COVID restrictions, a spectators area has been designated (refer to attached maps). Parents are asked to enter through the main gates only and make their way to the spectators area via Centre Court. It is very important for any spectators attending to ensure "Covid Safe Practices" are followed by maintaining 1.5m social distancing and only accessing the designated spectator area. Additionally, any visitors who are not parents of a student must sign in via scanning the QCODE provided for you at the bridge to the oval.
Make sure to bring a chair when you come to watch and set yourself up early in our spectators' area for the best view of the morning's events.
I look forward to seeing you there to encourage all of our students' fantastic efforts.
