This fabulous group of environmentally concious students all work together to help reduce the environmentally impact we have here at Talara Primary College.
Compost Crew
Compost Crew take on the important role of reducing waste in the general rubbish bins, instead, turning scraps into rich compost for our gardens.
The crew work hard, sorting through the scraps to ensure no plastics or other contaminants have made it through. They then add the right mixture of water and shredded paper to make the compost healthy. It gets tumbled weekly and once it's ready, we collect it to put into the Garden Guardian's planter boxes.
Garden Guardians
Our Garden Guardians take caring for our herb and vegetable gardens very seriously and have been doing a wonderful job maintaining our various herb and vegetable gardens around the school.
Last year, our Garden Guardians were lucky enough to receive a new shed and two raised garden beds as part of a grant. These items were constructed in the junior school area where the team planted lettuce, as well as tending to strawberries, tomoatoes and herbs in the existing garden beds.
