Talara Primary College boasts one of the most extensive
sporting programs on the Sunshine Coast. With 16 extracurricular sporting
opportunities, an Active After-School Sporting Program and a pathway for
students to represent not only their college, but the entire state of Queensland
in the sporting arena, we provide our students with a multitude of life-long
pathways. Through the provision of grass-roots sporting opportunities, Talara
Primary College is continually attaining accolades in many ‘All Schools’
sporting competitions.
Whole school sporting events at our college are always a
highlight for both our students and their parents. Our Prep to Year 6 Cross
Country Day at the end of Term one exhibits all the talents and resilience that
we promote both in the curriculum based physical education lessons and our
extracurricular Cross Country Club and Kilometre Club.
Term two sees three massive athletics carnivals for Prep and
Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3, and our upper school track and field carnival for
Years 4, 5 and 6. They are each a spectacle to watch as our students run, jump
and throw their way to success in an array of events.
The Talara Primary College Swimming Program is under the
stewardship of the John Wallace Swimming Club at the Caloundra Aquatics Centre.
In Term 4, the students are put through an intensive program aimed at producing
squad level swimmers that are capable in our aquatic environment here on the
Sunshine Coast.
