2019 Year 6 BYOx

In 2019, we are initiating the Talara Primary College’s transition to a voluntary “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOx).

We are introducing the BYOx option to our college, with the support of our P&C Association, to support our students in their investigations and engagement in the digital learning space/s that will be created with the students in their classrooms. Our Year 6 students will be the only students with this privilege in 2019 as they lead the introduction of BYOx for our college.

All students will still interact with each other face to face - there will be lots of designing, model making and even building, and ICT tools will be used as aids to learning, not BE the learning.

Of course, parents/caregivers may choose not to take up this opportunity and not provide a personal device.  Their students will have access to a classroom based device, with a ratio similar to that which currently exists in our Year 4 – Year 6 classes. Students who are accessing their digital learning space through school devices will not be able to take school devices home with them. Online spaces used at school should be able to be accessed on home computers, assuming they have internet connectivity.

This is a very exciting time for Talara Primary College and the Year 6 students of 2019. We are very excited at the future potential outcomes that BYOx can provide students at Talara Primary College, with individualised learning for each student, allowing them to learn the way that best suits them.
