Winter Sun Monster Success

The sun shone like a mid-summer’s day, the army of volunteers were on site at day break, and the swarms of keen carnival goers arrived in their thousands to make the Talara Primary College Winter Sun Carnival 2018 bigger and better than ever! The buzz, the excitement was everywhere and the whole visual appearance of the carnival and everyone having such a great time was priceless. A huge thanks for the wonderful support from our whole school community that all worked so hard and came together as one unbeatable team. There is no question that it was an incredibly successful day and thoroughly enjoyed by children and adults alike. The carnival ran very smoothly as a result of the great organisation, many weeks of preparation, the amazing donations throughout the collections and then the hundreds of volunteers who gave their time on the day. Talara Primary College prides itself on being professional and walking the mantra of TEAM. I think the weekend was certainly testimony to this.

A special mention must be made of our incredible team of year level coordinators and their volunteers who did so much work behind the scenes to ensure everyone knew what to do and it all came together so well.
Congratulations to one and all involved in the 2018 Winter Sun Carnival, the day was not only an incredible success as a community building event , all indications show that this year will be a new record profit! At the P. & C. meeting Tuesday night our Treasurer Kylie announced that the profit for the 2018 Winter Sun Festival achieved an incredible $ 70 000. This is truly beyond all expectations and is such a great reflection of the massive effort and support generated towards this event by our whole community, including all of our families and local businesses.

These funds will go a long way to helping the P. & C. pay off the loan for our permanent roof structure over the double multipurpose courts which was delivered at a cost of $ 425 000, as well as the new rubberised softfall to both junior playgrounds. Major facility enhancements like this are only possible when you have an amazing P.&C. that has total support and commitment from the parents and community. Congratulations Talara Community, you have outdone yourselves again.
